Mrs Shufflewick was one of Britain’s most beloved and groundbreaking drag characters, created and performed by entertainer Rex Jameson.

 

Unlike the glamorous drag acts of the time, Mrs Shufflewick was famously chaotic, dishevelled and hilariously sharp-tongued — usually appearing with smudged makeup, a battered handbag and the look of someone who had spent far too long in the pub.
