About Lost Gay London

Lost Gay London is an independent, non-commercial historical archive dedicated to preserving and celebrating the history, culture and heritage of London's LGBTQ+ community.

Our aim is to document an important part of our community's history through photographs, flyers, posters, memorabilia, videos, publications and personal recollections that may otherwise be lost over time.

The website is operated voluntarily and is supported primarily through community donations. It exists for educational, historical and archival purposes and is not intended to generate commercial profit.

Historical Archive

Much of the material featured on Lost Gay London spans several decades and has been contributed by members of the public, former club promoters, DJs, performers, photographers, venue owners, collectors and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Many items have been shared in good faith to help preserve London's LGBTQ+ history.

Where known, Lost Gay London endeavours to credit photographers, artists, designers, writers and copyright holders.

Unfortunately, due to the age and historical nature of much of the material, identifying the original creator or copyright owner is not always possible.
